In Washington elections are overseen by the Secretary of State.

REGISTERING TO VOTE IN Washington:

  • Register online with a Washington DL or state ID, by mail, or in-person.

  • Deadline for mail-in registration is October 8, 2018. For in-person registration it’s October 29, 2018.

PRIMARY RULES:

  • Jungle Primaries, meaning all candidates on a single ballot and the top two winners go onto the General Election.

 

WAYS TO VOTE:

  • By Mail (For the most part, all of Washington state votes by mail. Ballots are mailed out on October 19, 2018, and the voting period goes until election day.)

  • In Person (County auditors are required to open at least one vote center where voters can cast a ballot in person, and the ID requirement applies to those voters. Find your local voting center and hours by signing in here. )

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:

  • ID is required for in-person voting only.

    • Accepted IDs driver’s license, state identification card, student identification card, tribal identification card, employer identification card. Specifics are available at VoteRiders.org

    • Ballots can be returned in person by 8:00pm on Election Day. (No polling hours because the entire state votes by mail.)
