REGISTERING TO VOTE IN Texas:
Voters must register 30 days before an election.
Voter Registration Cards are mailed to voters.
Open Primaries, meaning registered voters can vote in any party’s primary.
WAYS TO VOTE:
In Person on Election Day
Early In Person (Vote in person between October Vote 22-November 2, 2018 at your county’s early voting location.)
By Mail (No longer called absentee voting. Excuse is required - must be away, sick or disabled, 65 or older, or confined in jail. Last day to apply is October 26, 2018, and ballot must be postmarked by November 7, 2018. Application is available here.)
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:
ID is required to vote.
Acceptable forms of ID include: TX driver’s license, TX Election ID Certificate, TX Personal ID Card, Handgun License, Military ID Card, US Passport Book or Card, US Citizenship Certificate (valid within the last four years). If you do not have one of the IDs listed above, then you can show: Voter registration certificate, Certified birth certificate, Current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, or government document including check, or any other government document showing the voter's name and an address.
