In Tennessee elections are overseen by the Tennessee Secretary of State.

REGISTERING TO VOTE IN Tennessee :
Voters must register 30 days before an election.
NOTE: Voters who register by mail must vote in-person the first time they vote.
Open Primaries, meaning registered voters can vote in either any party’s primary.
WAYS TO VOTE:
In Person on Election Day
Early In Person (Voting at county election commissions starts 20 days before and ends 5 days prior to Election Day.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:
ID is required to vote, and requirements are strict. Be prepared.
Acceptable forms of ID include TN driver license or TN state ID, US Passport, ID issued by TN Department of Safety and Homeland Security, ID issued by federal or TN state government, US Military ID, TN handgun carry permit.
NOTE: College student ID’s are not accepted. Plan to have alternate ID.
