In South Dakota elections are overseen by the South Dakota Secretary of State.

REGISTERING TO VOTE IN SOUTH DAKOTA:
Registration must be received at least 15 days before Election Day.
Semi-Closed Primaries, meaning party-affiliated voters must vote in their own primary but Independents and nonaffiliated voters can choose to vote in the Democratic primary. The Republican primary is closed to non-members.

ID is required to vote, sort of.
Voters without an acceptable ID can sign an affidavit confirming their identity and vote on a regular ballot.
Acceptable forms of ID include SD driver’s license or SD state ID card, US government-issued ID, Tribal ID card, or a current student ID card from a SD-located high school or accredited institution of higher learning.
