In South Carolina elections are overseen by the South Carolina Election Commission.

REGISTERING TO VOTE IN SOUTH CAROLINA:
Registration deadlines are in early October, but differ depending on how you register.
Open Primaries, meaning registered voters can vote in any party’s primary.
WAYS TO VOTE:
In Person on Election Day
Early In Person (Voters may fill out an absentee ballot in person at their local county election office. Ballots must be in by 5:00pm the day before the election.)
By Mail / Absentee (Absentee ballots can be requested by mail up until the Friday before Election Day. Ballots must be returned by 7:00 pm on Election Day. NOTE: ID is not required for mail-in absentee voting.)
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:
ID is required to vote.
Acceptable forms of ID include SC Driver’s License or DMV ID card, US Passport, Military ID issued by federal government, or an SC Voter Registration card.
Voters who are unable to obtain valid photo ID due to a “reasonable impediment” may list the reason, sign an affidavit, and vote on a provisional ballot.
