In Indiana, elections are overseen by the Indiana Election Division.

REGISTERING TO VOTE IN Indiana:

  • Register online (with Indiana driver’s license), by mail, or in person at your local elections office or BMV. More information available here.

  • Deadline to register for the 2018 General Election is October 9, 2018.

PRIMARY RULES:

  • Open Primaries, meaning any registered voter can vote in any primary.

WAYS TO VOTE:

  • In Person on Election Day

  • Early (Officially considered “absentee in person” voting, you can vote in person at any county election board office beginning 28 days before an election.)

  • Absentee (Application to vote absentee by mail is available here. Absentee applications must be received by October 29, 2018. )

Know Before You Go:

  • ID is required to vote.

    • Valid forms include: Indiana driver license, Indiana photo ID card, Military ID or U.S. Passport is sufficient.

    • ID must be government issued and include a photo, your name, and an expiration date (must be current or have expired sometime after the last General Election). Some state school IDs are acceptable. Consult here for more info.

    • Free IDs are available from the BMV.
